Haglofs ROC 25 Day Pack Review

tough. Both Dawn and I have worn the sack. I am 5’6” and she is 6’3” so we have different back lengths, but we both find it really comfortable. Dawn also used this as her carry on luggage on the plane to Oslo and found she could load it up and it still qualified as hand luggage! All in all we think it is a very good sack. Would I buy one? Absolutely!

The ROC25 from Haglofs is designed as an all round mountain sack for everything from crags to full on Alpine ascents.  It also makes a cracking good day sack for snowshoeing, day skiing and hut to hut touring.

Since we received our red sample the pack has been redesignated ROC25L and now comes in black.

Personally, I like the red as it looks very smart and when I put it down with a lot of other sacks it is very easy to find!

Haglofs pride themselves on innovative design and producing high quality products so it was no surprise that the ROC25 has a number of clever features and is very well made and in my opinion, well worth the money.

During the many months of testing hiking and scrambling in the Welsh Mountains and skiing and snowshoeing out in Norway, the pack looks as good today as when it was first delivered.

At 1400g the pack is pretty light, but you can make it even lighter by removing the floating lid. This is easily accomplished by undoing a couple of straps. Unlike some other makes of sack, the lid is also a doddle to refit!

You can also remove the 1.5mm HDPE framesheet in the back of the sack if you have a mind to.

The sack has all the necessary straps for crampons, ice axe, trekking poles and a good gear rack.

The zips have worked faultlessly and the keepers have long tabs making them easy to work in gloves.

The main sack has plenty of room for layers, pan, stove, fuel, probe, shovel and  or climbing gear.

The lid has two zipped pockets. A large one on top and a small one at the back of the lid. The large one is ideal for carrying a digital transceiver, first aid kit, vacuum flask and nibbles and the small one a head torch, GPS, phone etc and also comes with a handy key ring.

The main pocket of the sack has a large gear pocket with clip which could also be used for a hydration pack and the tube can be routed over the shoulder straps and kept secure under the elastic straps.

The lid is held down with one big wide strap which has a good solid clip and a long adjustable strap for various loads.

The pack is fitted with Haglofs own Interact™ suspension system and is very comfortable even when fully loaded. There is a haul loop fitted and a rope carry strap under the lid. The side compression straps also double as ski straps. There is reflective printing and two large reflectors on the pack which show up well in our photos.

The sack is made of 630D HD Oxford Polyamide fabric which has  an extremely good abrasion and tearing resistance. It is PU coated in three stages for improved water resistance and has a hydrostatic head of 2000 mm. . When wearing the sack for long days in the hills it is very comfortable and the mesh panels keep you as cool as can be when the going gets

ROC25 makes and excellent day sack for skiing

Reflectors work really well!

Sack has floating lid which is easy to remove & refit
